BMAT is a two-hour admissions test that assesses a combination of aptitude and knowledge. The BMAT tests a broad range of skills across three sections:
BMAT was developed by Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing in response to requests from academics at medical and veterinary schools for an assessment that would enable them to differentiate between applicants who appear equally well qualified and suited to the course, and provide a way of assessing the potential of students who have a range of different qualifications.
- The candidate must be a Graduate with minimum 50% aggregate in any subject from a recognized university. The criteria is 45% for SC/ST candidates
- Candidates in their final year, are also eligible to apply provided they can submit their graduation certificate by August 2023
- The candidate should have completed a minimum of 15 years of formal education (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis)
- Those whose medium of instruction in Graduation was not English will have to complete an orientation course in English provided by the institutes
- Candidate should be an Indian national
- BMAT Section 1 tests your skills in problem-solving, understanding arguments, and data analysis and inference. You’ll answer 32 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes.
- BMAT Section 2 tests your ability to apply scientific knowledge typically covered in school science and mathematics by the age of 16.You’ll answer 27 multiple-choice questions in 30 minutes.
- BMAT Section 3 tests your ability to select, develop and organise ideas, and to communicate them in writing, concisely and effectively. You’ll write an essay on one of three questions that you choose, and you get 30 minutes to do this.

The application form of BMAT is available in online mode only. Candidates could check how to complete the BMAT registration process in detail.
Candidates need to pay Rs. 1770 as an application fee.
BMAT exam is conducted in computer-based mode where candidates need to choose the correct options on the computer.
No, candidates cannot carry any electronic gadgets like phones, calculators, etc. to the BMAT examination center.
No, there is no negative marking in the BMAT exam.
