CAT is the major and most popular MBA entrance exam for admission in 20 IIMs and over 100+ B-schools across India. Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all India Entrance test performed by IIMs. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started out this exam and is a pre-requisite for deciding on college students for his or her business administration packages. CAT is a computer based test. For CAT 2020, the IIMs have not changed the structure and continue to be a 3 section test. Refer the below table with the details as per CAT 2019:

The CAT exam comprises of 3 sections:
There are a total of 100 questions with the section breakup as follows: 34Q in VARC, 32 in LRDI and 34 in Quants. You will get a fixed time of 1hr to solve each section and you cannot move between sections. So, the total exam duration is 3hrs.
Yes. There is negative marking in the CAT exam. While there is no negative marking in the 'Type in the Answer' question format, you do get penalized for wrong answers in objective type questions. You get +3 marks for every correct answer in Objective type question.
