Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions to MBA/PGDM courses. ... MAT is conducted in offline (Paper Based Test or PBT), online (Computer Based Test or CBT) and remote proctored (Internet Based Test or IBT) modes.
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003.
Having work experience is not mandatory for MAT, however it carries extra weightage in selection process of all top MBA colleges. There is no limit on the number of attempts for taking the exam, therefore candidates are eligible to take the exam irrespective of their attempts in previous sessions.
There are 5 Sections in MAT exam. MAT score is awarded out of 200 marks but MAT percentile is calculated out of 160 Marks after removing the 5th section.MAT scores are scaled to 100 for each section. The scaled score is therefore, awarded in the score card in the range of 0-100 in each section.

Unlike other graduate exams, perfect scores on the MAT are not just rare, they are almost unheard of (MAT Percentiles). The exam is scored on a scale of 200-600, but it is designed so that most of the population will score at about 400. This could easily characterize the MAT as a “hard” test.
MAT is conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) and is recognized by MHRD, GOI as a National Level Entrance Test. The exam is conducted 4 times a year. The level of this exam is not hard as that as of CAT exam and any average student can easily score 80 percentile score in this exam.
A pass in graduation or in final year of bachelor's degree is the minimum eligibility criteria to appear in December MAT 2023. To appear for MAT exam 2023 in December, you must have obtained recognized bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline.
MAT exam is conducted 4 times in a year in the month of February, May, September and December. You can give all the attempts.
Since the GK section in MAT exam is not counted for score calculation, many candidates skipped or attempted very few questions in Indian and Global Environment section and utilized this time to attempt the questions in other sections.
